WELCOME to the website of the Helston & Kerrier Music Society.
We are a choir of about 30 people. Some of us are professionally trained, some are tentative beginners, but all of us enjoy great music. We are now rehearsing for a concert to take place in January 2010. We always welcome more members to give the choir as rich a sound as possible – tenors and basses especially! Joining the choir will stimulate and brighten the lives of any who love and have some understanding of classical music.
We have in George Shutter an excellent accompanist and in David Burleigh a musical director who is full of encouragement and enthusiasm. David pushes us constantly to achieve more than we think we can and, to our amazement, we do.
We meet every Tuesday at 7.30pm, either in the Catholic Church Hall (plenty of parking) in Clodgey Lane, Helston, opposite Tesco, or sometimes in the Community Centre in Penrose Road. Terms are usually about 18 weeks long, culminating in a concert in Helston Parish Church. The cost is very reasonable (about £2 per session). Our latest Concert

Our June Concert, when we performed Bruckner's Mass No 3 in F Minor, was a great success and the first we have performed with an orchestra – talented volunteers from all over West Cornwall, playing as the Porthleven Philharmonic Orchestra. You can read the Review elsewhere on this site.
