Penwith Healthy Living Network (PHLN) is an innovative programme which consists of 21 individual projects covering a wide range of health related issues including identifying community health needs and social concerns, health promotion and education, the elderly, the disabled, children and young parents, drug/alcohol abuse and rehabilitation, environment and improving access to services.
PHLN's mission statement is "TO BUILD PARTNERSHIPS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY LIVING AND TO REDUCE HEALTH INEQUALITY IN PENWITH". PHLN was initiated by a group of like-minded individuals including GPs, health visitors and community activities. In order to transform their 'vision' into reality, the Penwith Community Development Trust (PCDT) was approached to be the lead organisation. PCDT was successfully secured funding of £1m from the New Opportunities Fund which is a new UK-wide Lottery Distributor to develop the PHLN project for a period of 3 years.
