Kerrier Conservation Crew
Welcome to the Kerrier Conservation Crew's website.

The crew are a group of volunteers, affiliated to BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers), captained by 'skipper' Jacque.

We are interested in all aspects of wildlife:- birds, mammals, insects (butterflies, moths, beetles etc.), amphibians (frogs, toads and newts) and plant life. We have been working, sometimes with local schools, in practical conservation work so that we do not lose any native species and even encourage some to return to places that they may have disappeared from. We also do surveys for other organisations.

We have worked on the proposed Red River Nature Reserve (to be confirmed in April 2003), Tehidy Country Park, Tuckingmill Valley Park and the Helston Amenity area.

It's not all hard work - we have been, amongst others, to the otter sanctuary near Launceston, a seminar at the Headlands Hotel Newquay (Water for Wildlife) and a bird watch at Loe Pool.

We are always looking for
more 'crew members' to help us in this very interesting work.

If you are at all interested in your local wildlife and helping to conserve it we would be pleased to hear from you (we're a very friendly bunch).

Unfortunately our insurance only covers over 16s but Children from 5 to 16 are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Are you doing your bit?
Some of us at work
The Kerrier Conservation Crew needs you.
Are you doing your bit? Volunteers are needed to check our newly constructed "Mink Monitoring Rafts" sited throughout the Red River Catchment. Full trianing will be given. We have constructed 13 of these rafts, and now need "all HANDS on DECK" with monitoring the tracking cartridge for prints of "Mink" or other mammals whom frequent our ponds ditches and rivers. This project ultimate objective is to aid the restoration of our Native British Water Vole in Cornwall.
Email the Captain (Jacque) for more information and to get involved.
