MABE LADIES CHOIR
Musical Director: Bea Geddes
Accompanist: Ruth Martin.
Since its formation in 1931, the Mabe Ladies Choir has been considered as one of the top, award winning choral groups in Cornwall.
Throughout its long history, the Choir has entertained audiences far and wide, helping raise many thousands of pounds for charity.
Major music festivals at which awards have been achieved include Blackpool, Cheltenham (the prestigious Gold Cup), Bournemouth (‘Choir of the Year’) and Exeter. The Choir is currently County Champions and has achieved this award on many previous occasions.
The present Musical Director is conscious of the changing musical tastes of audiences and ensures that the repertoire takes this into account. Whilst many ‘old favourites’ are included, so also are songs from the shows, modern compositions and arrangements. Some samples are shown in the ‘Repertoire’ page.
Based in the south Cornwall town of Penryn, the Choir rehearses each Wednesday throughout the year. With a present membership of 40 enthusiastic singers, new members would be given a warm welcome. Anyone interested in joining should contact the MD or Secretary’ details of which are included in the ‘Contacts’ page.
There is an interesting programme of events ahead, details of which are shown in the ‘Events’ page
